Low-carbon and environmentally friendly life styles in the 21st Century
110th Anniversary of Shandong University
In an age of a booming industrial economy and the population explosion, the world’s climate is facing increasingly severe problems due to the huge emissions of greenhouse gases. In recent years, catastrophic climate changes have begun to seriously threaten human being’s living conditions and health.
As the 110th anniversary of Shandong University approaches, students are to hold an international seminar on low-carbon and environmental life styles. You are sincerely invited to take part in this seminar, and discuss this environmental issue with students from around the world. This seminar is being held to raise public awareness of the environmental issues and encourage people to put low-carbon life styles into practice.

Requirements for Application
The Essay
‘Low-carbon and environmentally friendly life styles in the 21st Century’
- The essay must be written in English and 2000-3000 words.
- Any writing style is accepted.
- Please submit an extract of the essay before 15th June 2011.
- The full essay must be submitted before 1st August 2011.
The Speech
- Please prepare a ten-minute speech in English, which is abridged from the original essay.
- Around 1000 words.
- Within 15 minutes
- Please submit your speech before 25th August.
The Video
- A 3-4 minute video
concerning low-carbon and environmentally friendly life styles in your town or your country.
- Format: FLV/AVI/RMVB/WMV/RM

Costs
- Accommodation and investigation fee will be paid by Shandong University.
- All attendees must pay for the travel expenses between their home countries to Shandong University.
